Cardinals Among NL Favorites as Jays Lead in World Series Odds

As the 2015 Major League Baseball season nears its close, bettors’ behavior is changing, in some cases, considerably. In the newest report from oddsmaker bovada.lv, odds to win the two pennants and the World Series are shortening for the hot teams and lengthening for the strugglers.

Based on betting levels, the St. Louis Cardinals, with MLB’s best record, have no better chance of winning the league than the other two division leaders, the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets. The Cards improved from 13/4 to 5/2 this month. The likely wild cards, the Pirates and Cubs, are at 5/1 and 6/1 to win the NL, respectively.

To take it all, all three NL division leaders are at 6/1, behind American League favorites Toronto and Kansas City, at 4/1 and 11/2, respectively.

At the top of the surgers is Toronto. Now World Series favorites, the Jays were sitting at 20/1 as recently as July 1. The Mets and Rangers have also made late progress, while the Nationals, Giants and Tigers are among earlier favorites that have been since squeezed out of the picture.
