Evolving 2015 Cardinals Spring Training Broadcast Schedule

Note: As of February 13, this schedule is out of date. There is a newer version elsewhere on this site. Please click here for details.

One of my self-assigned tasks each spring is to scan the broadcast schedules of the St. Louis Cardinals’ spring training opponents to create something that is not available in one place anywhere else.

What follows is a list of all Cardinals spring training radio and television games for 2015, whether the broadcast originates from the Cardinals side or from their opponents. After all, if you are like me, following the long winter, you have a thirst to watch any Major League Baseball no matter who is at the mike.

Last Thursday, the first of the 15 Grapefruit League teams, the Detroit Tigers, announced their spring broadcast schedule. Unfortunately, none of their four TV games on FOX Sports Detroit are against St. Louis and just one of their two Cardinals contests will be on the radio.

On Sunday, the Cardinals spring television schedule was disclosed by the Post-Dispatch. 15 games will be shown on FOX Sports Midwest, starting with a home tilt against the Orioles on March 12. No games from the first week of the spring schedule will be covered by FSM.

There are a lot of blanks in the schedule below to be filled, including the KMOX Radio plans for the Cardinals. In past years, it was generally Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday with some exceptions.

Also yet to announce their broadcast plans are eight other Cardinals spring opponents, plus national entities ESPN, MLB Network, FOX Network and TBS. Typically, picks up all televised games, as well, though no news from the subscription service is yet available.

As a point of reference, last spring, FS Midwest also televised 15 Cardinals games. Eight other games were shown by the likes of ESPN, along with the Twins, Mets, Nationals and Astros home networks. That left just four Cardinals games with no TV coverage and between KMOX and the opposing radio, they were covered, too.

Keep an eye on this page as I will keep it updated as more information becomes available.

January 12 update: On Monday morning, the Cardinals officially announced the FOX Sports Midwest slate of 15 games plus 18 radio contests on KMOX and the Cardinals Radio Network. Many of the FSM games will also be replayed in prime time. As the dates approach, check your local radio affiliate’s plans, as not all of them carry all spring games. Again, I am expecting everything to also be accessible via

As of now, 22 of 29 Cardinals spring training games have radio and/or TV plans, with more to come.

January 29 update: One TV game added, from MASN on March 7. Along with FOX Sports Midwest, FOX Sports North will also cover the Twins-Cards games on March 14-15. Also added are one Twins and two Orioles radio broadcasts, but all three were already on KMOX’s schedule. Still at 22 of 29 games coverage, but TV grows to 16.

February 8 update: Three Nats radio broadcasts plus two Mets television and one radio game added. TV coverage up to 18 games and either TV or radio plans for 25 of 29 contests with more to come…
