Cardinal Talk: KXnO FOX Sports Radio: NLDS is Finally Here

Weekly St. Louis Cardinals-focused chat on KXnO FOX Sports Radio 1460 in Des Moines.

As is the case each Friday prior to the St. Louis Cardinals pregame show, I joined Ken Miller on KXnO FOX Sports Radio 1460 in Des Moines in our weekly series to discuss the St. Louis Cardinals.

This week, we discussed the opening of the National League Division Series between the Cardinals and Dodgers, covered the pitching matchups, rosters and ultimately a made a prediction.

Once again in 2014, Cardinals followers in central Iowa are able to catch St. Louis Cardinals radio broadcasts on KXnO as well as my regular segment each week throughout the season, either over the air or via streaming. Or, if you miss it live, you can always catch the replay right here at The Cardinal Nation blog.

Wainwright’s curve looks especially nasty tonight.

  2. Bw52 says:

hitters feeble tonite.I hate to say it but this ones finished .Cards be lucky to get 4 hits tonite.Wainwright isn`t Superman,,,,,,,,,,,,he needs run support also,

  3. blingboy says:

Not a very Ace-like performance by Wainwright.

  4. Bw52 says:

Great win by Cards.Another slice of humble pie for me.

Yes, a great win. An 8 run big inning. Mattingly stuck with his mound star and things did not turn out well, thanks especially to Matt Carpenter, who appears to have a rare ability to hit Kershaw. Then Holliday hit 97 mph pitch out of the park; Two of our best hitters got it done. Wow.

The Dodgers will be desperate to win tomorrow, but this has to be a troubling loss for the lads in blue, up 5 runs, home, with a star pitcher and then it all came apart at the seams.

  6. JumboShrimp says:

The five off-days were restorative for Carpenter and Holliday, after playing nearly every game during the regular season.
For the Cards to prevail again, they will probably need the same formula of using a lot of relievers. If we can get 4 good innings out of Lynn, we will be fortunate.
Though the first game was pleasantly surprising, at least Super Pete reliably went 0 for 4.

    • Bw52 says:

Super Pete probably on bench tonite vs Grienke.Adams getting hit vs LHP was a shocker.Carpenter hung tough and Grichuk stunned Dodger fans early with Homerun.

    • JumboShrimp says:

Something that could change the complexion of tonights game is the hour at which it is played. Twilight is often not good hitting or outfielding conditions, as we saw in 2009. Bad light for hitting probably hurts the Dodgers, since they have so many veteran hitters.
