Cardinal Talk: KXnO FOX Sports Radio: Leveraging the Home Stand

Weekly St. Louis Cardinals-focused chat on KXnO FOX Sports Radio 1460 in Des Moines.

In our normal late-Friday time slot, I joined Ken Miller on KXnO FOX Sports Radio 1460 in Des Moines in our weekly series to discuss the St. Louis Cardinals. Jim Brinson was away.

We discussed the Cardinals recent strong home stand and what it may mean for the remainder of the season. A quick glance around the National League Central Division followed, appropriate as we set up the weekend Reds series before looking ahead to interleague play.

Once again in 2014, Cardinals followers in central Iowa are able to catch St. Louis Cardinals radio broadcasts on KXnO as well as my regular segment each week throughout the season, either over the air or via streaming. Or, if you miss it live, you can always catch the replay right here at The Cardinal Nation blog.

So the question to soon be answered, which AAA outfielder will Mo add to the roster for the AL games? It will be either Grichuk or Taveras. I believe it will be Oscar. His left swing is needed to complement the 3 right swinging starting OFs. Also Grichuk already got a ML cup of coffee, while Oscar has yet to debut. Oscar socked his 7th HR last night. He is ready.

Jaime Garcia is efficient in terms of tossing strikes. If his shoulder still hurts, he may not want to suffer pain en route to throwing a ball. He is all about the strikes now.
Perhaps Joe Kelly will find himself in relief, given the return of Garcia.

Jaime Garcia -marshmallow man.Impossible to rely on.

Garcia has had TJ and shoulder operations. For some, pitching can be injurious. Garcia is toughing it out by even being out there. Good for him. One of the strengths of this team is starting pitching and Garcia is part of this mix. We would not have won it all in 2011 without him.
