Cardinal Talk: KXnO FOX Sports Radio: The Braves Arrive

Weekly St. Louis Cardinals-focused chat on KXnO FOX Sports Radio 1460 in Des Moines.

In our normal late-Friday time slot, I joined Ken Miller and Jim Brinson on KXnO FOX Sports Radio 1460 in Des Moines in our weekly series to discuss the St. Louis Cardinals.

We discussed the Cardinals recent play, some potential changes on the horizon as well as some change that are not likely to occur. Of course, we also touched on the current home series against the Atlanta Braves

Once again in 2014, Cardinals followers in central Iowa are able to catch St. Louis Cardinals radio broadcasts on KXnO as well as my regular segment each week throughout the season, either over the air or via streaming. Or, if you miss it live, you can always catch the replay right here at The Cardinal Nation blog.

It was nice Mike Matheny got booted from the game last night. Sometimes, its good to stand up against bush league gestures by an umpire.
Bourjos has been a having a rough season to date with the stick. Too many Ks, many his fault. Last night, however, the ump missed a call and rang him up on a ball clearly off the plate. Its too bad, but mistakes happen.
However, then the ump booted Bourjos next time up, when Bourjos was not in his face, but walking away. That’s lame. Good for Mike to object and get booted too. Umps should try to make right calls to begin with and not abuse players after an ump has made a ball/strike mistake.

Exciting stuff that TLR has landed in charge of a ML team. The GM will work for him.

Three big positives in yesterday’s win. Shelby Miller had a strong game, having fixed something in his delivery. Wong and Bourjos successfully deposited bunts, producing runs. We need guys who can play small ball to be productive at it and yesterday went well. This can give them confidence to do more of this and take advantage of their talents.
