Brian Walton's news and commentary on the St. Louis Cardinals (TM) and their minor league system

Finding Cardinals broadcasts on Monday and Wednesday

To have a fighting chance at financial viability, regional networks work to secure broadcast rights of teams in several different sports. That enables them to feature live programming on a more year-round basis. A challenge is presented, however, during the times of year when the various sports overlap.

Such is the case in St. Louis currently. The dilemma is faced by FOX Sports Midwest on television as well as by KMOX Radio. The Blues’ playoff hunt overlaps Cardinals regular-season contests on both Monday and Wednesday this week.

KMOX’s solution is to shift the hockey game to Y98 FM while keeping the Cardinals on the flagship.

For FOX Sports Midwest, the solution is an alternate channel, called FOX Sports Midwest Plus. The challenge for the viewer is to locate FSM Plus. Each cable and satellite provider handles the extra channel differently.

As first pitch approaches and you are in a mad dash at first pitch to locate your team, you don’t have time to fool around. So, the information you need to find your Cardinals telecast is here.

don’t tell Crdswmn that Tavares is in CF tonight.

  2. JumboShrimp says:

If Greg Garcia keeps hitting at AAA, he could take some playing time away from Peralta by June.

    OFF team topic
Albert hit #499 in 1st inning versus Washington. HR 7 for the season.Go Albert.

  4. JumboShrimp says:

Sending down Butler and uplifting Fornataro is a small step, but it should pay real dividends. Matheny was averse to relying on Butler, which meant he over-relied on other pitchers. Adding Fornataro gives Matheny 6 relievers he would use.
Fornataro has good velocity and throws a sinker. He dominated at AA during 2012, before a bad season at AAA. This year, he seems closer to 2012 form.

  5. JumboShrimp says:

As spring warms up, balls carry further, helping offenses. It helps both sides hitters, however, so the calendar alone is not going to fix the doldrums.
Some of the off season additions are most mired in slump: Peralta and Bourjos. They were to help us forget Beltran, Kozma, Freese, and jay. However, both P and B have come over to a new league and unfamiliar pitchers. Their results have been lacking, in the early going.
Bourjos was absurdly unrealistic when talking about stealing 40 bases, during spring training. He needs to focus on reaching first base, first. Take it one step at a time, don’t create massive expectations for yourself with nonsense goals.
Jay seemed intimidated during spring training, yet now realizes Bourjos is lots of talk and ping pong, but when it counts, a whiffer. I hated Jay’s feeble hitting last October, but right now he looks a lot better than Bourjos as a hitter.
