Though many of the readers here are already well-versed on the St. Louis Cardinals and the farm system, others may not be.
If you are in the latter category, I encourage you to check out the question and answer session about the Cardinals in which I participated recently. The interviewer is Brad Krause of the aptly-named Milwaukee Brewers-focused site, Miller Park Prospects.
As an aside, I think the Brewers have the chance to surprise in the National League Central this season. They quietly upgraded their pitching, especially with Matt Garza, and a full season of Ryan Braun should go a long way toward improving the offense. I don’t see the Brew Crew as division-winning caliber, but they could push their way into the wild card mix if all goes well for them this summer.
On the prospect side, the immediate future is cloudy, however. Milwaukee drained a lot of its future talent in trades in recent years and it is taking some time to replenish the system. In fact, ESPN’s Keith Law currently ranks Milwaukee’s system dead last. In other words, for the Brewers farm system, there is no place to go but up.
