Brian Walton's news and commentary on the St. Louis Cardinals (TM) and their minor league system

Updated 2014 Cardinals home and away spring broadcast schedule

Though players are trickling into spring training camps across Florida, the 2014 spring television schedules for St. Louis Cardinals opponents Atlanta and Houston have yet to be disclosed.

However, there is new news and it is good for fans. SportsNet New York, SNY, announced its slate of Mets spring games on Tuesday, February 11. The three additional Cardinals contests to be televised raises the overall total to 21, 15 of which will appear on FOX Sports Midwest.

The afternoon of Friday, March 7 may especially challenge DVRs across The Cardinal Nation as St. Louis’ split squad games will be on different networks simultaneously!

In addition, MLB Network may be waiting to divulge its full slate of spring games since they generally depend on team network feeds.

Along with the 21 Cardinals spring games to be televised, at least 23 currently have radio plans. That leaves just one game with neither TV nor radio coverage – the March 14 contest versus the Astros.

Keep checking back as I will fill in the remaining details when announced. That will hopefully include FOX Sports South/Tennessee’s Cardinals plans. I suspect they are tied up with the Braves’ schedule currently.

Update 2/12: In what is great news for Cardinals fans, MLB.TV announced its spring schedule. 24 Cardinals games will be broadcast, including four not previously on any TV schedule. As a result, 25 of 27 Cardinals Grapefruit League games will be televised.

Update 2/18: The Braves’ station SportSouth will also telecast the March 13 contest. Atlanta’s other channel, FOX Sports South, will carry no Cards-Braves games from Florida this spring. In a related aside, as a reminder, Cardinals fans have much for which to be thankful. Where St. Louis will have 15 spring games on FOX Sports Midwest, Atlanta will have just six between SportSouth and FOX Sports South.

Update 2/24: MLB Network is adding live coverage of five Cardinals spring games with another 11 shown on a delayed basis (often the next morning). Those telecasts have been added below. Click here to see the details of MLB Network’s schedule, including exact replay times, and remember to set your DVR!

Update 2/27: With the Houston Astros’ announcement, the 26th of 27 Cardinals television games has been added. Only the Monday, March 3 contest will not have TV coverage. Enjoy!

Update 3/2: FOX Sports 1 has added the March 5 game against the Red Sox. More details here.

Update 3/7: Though MLB.tv’s spring schedule still lists the Saturday 3/8 Nats at Cards game, it is not on their media center page for that day. I would tend to trust the latter, unfortunately. This discrepancy could also affect the 3/15 and 3/23 MLB.tv games noted below. Additional details here.

Update 3/14: The 3/15 game has been removed from the MLB.tv schedule. As of now, 3/23 is still listed.

Update 3/20: As expected, the 3/23 Astros game is no longer listed on the MLB.tv schedule.

I am excited for the games to get started. I won’t be able to watch all of them live because they are in the daytime and I might be at school, but I can watch them later on MLB.TV.
