Cardinal Talk: KXnO FOX Sports Radio: Trying to keep the Jolly Roger down

Weekly St. Louis Cardinals-focused chat on KXnO FOX Sports Radio 1460 in Des Moines.

Late Friday afternoon, I joined Ken Miller and Jim Brinson on KXnO FOX Sports Radio 1460 in Des Moines in our weekly series to discuss the St. Louis Cardinals, “Cardinal Talk.”

As usual, we focused on the National League Central, though this time, the two survivors are competing in the Division Series.  We of course discussed the Cardinals’ win in Game 1, their Game 2 loss and looked ahead to the matchups in Games 3 and 4 in Pittsburgh on Sunday and Monday.

Cardinals followers in central Iowa can again catch St. Louis Cardinals radio broadcasts on KXnO as well as my regular segment each week throughout the season, either over the air or via streaming. Or, if you miss it live, you can always catch the replay right here at The Cardinal Nation blog.

Its now a three game series and the Pirates enjoy homefield advantage.

If the Cards can obtain one win in Pittsburg, Wainwright can beat them again in Game 5.

Its not going to be easy to collect a win in Pittsburg. The fans will be beserk, the players super motivated. Liriano has beaten us handily this year, while our best hitter against a lefty is out of action, Craig. The Pirates have added Byrd and Morneau, and have a strong pen. Our starting pitchers are inexperienced in Kelly and Wacha. Lots of reasons we can’t win.

On the other hand, Kelly has pitched very well the second half, as has Wacha. If they keep their composure and shut out the crazy fans, they could acquit themselves well. We have a chance.
