Cardinal Talk: KXnO FOX Sports Radio: Better Bucs outcome

Weekly St. Louis Cardinals-focused chat on KXnO FOX Sports Radio 1460 in Des Moines.

Late Thursday afternoon, I joined Jim Brinson on KXnO FOX Sports Radio 1460 in Des Moines in our regular series to discuss the St. Louis Cardinals, “Cardinal Talk.” This time, we briefly discussed the recently-ended home series win over the first-place Pittsburgh Pirates.

Cardinals followers in central Iowa can again catch St. Louis Cardinals radio broadcasts on KXnO as well as my regular segment each week throughout the season, either over the air or via streaming. Or, if you miss it live, you can always catch the replay right here at The Cardinal Nation blog.

How could the Cards be so flat and stink so bad today after the big win yesterday? Where was the fire and motivation? A totally pitiful effort and the players should be asking themselves how?

  2. Bw52 says:

Read a blog about David Freese and the callup of Kolten Wong and Matt Carpenter.Blogger thinks Cards will move Carp to 3B and put KW at 2B and trade Freese this winter .Another scenario was putting Freese on waivers and see who might be interested (Boston,NYY?) and seeing if a trade can be worked out to get Cards SS help.

Just repeating what some bloggers opinion was.Didn`t say it was fact.

    • Brian Walton says:

Well, nothing will be fact until after the fact. You were clear, but since you brought it up, I was also being clear that I disagree with them, whoever they are. There is a lot of “analysis” out there that seems misinformed, IMO.

This may be Westbrook’s last season with the Cards. He got used for 124 pitches yesterday. We are squeezing him for whatever is left.

The team has 9 rookies: Miller; Wacha; Siegrist; Freeman; Maness; Rosenthal; Adams; Wong; Kozma.

  5. Bw52 says:

Jumbo don`t forget about Butler,Blazek,Martinez,Lyons,GastCurtis,Peterson and Ryan Jackson all rookies who have at least wore the uniform this season.I don`t remember seeing this many rookies in one season in years.I doubt Westbrooks option gets picked up.Mujica probably goes elsewhere for a bigger payday than the Cards offer and Furcal is gone.Beltran ?
