The contest

The third winner of the 2011 World Series Game 6 discs will be the first to correctly answer the St. Louis Cardinals-related trivia question in the comments section below. (Only one entry per person allowed. Previous winners are ineligible. US and Canada residents only, please.)

This question was provided by researcher Tom Orf.

On Saturday, the Cardinals lost for the second time this season in a game in which their only two hits went for extra bases. When is the last time the team WON a game in which their only two hits went for extra bases?

If you do not win this time, never fear. There will be multiple new contests between now and July 31, so check back here at The Cardinal Nation Blog, follow me on Twitter and check The Cardinal Nation message board regularly for announcements.

This will be an interesting week for trades. Mo has to be working hard on the phones, exploring all sorts of trades. There is SS Alexi Ramirez, owed $21MM during 2014/15. Pitchers like White Sox Peavy, Jays Burhle and Johnson, Astros’ Bud Norris. Lots of names and big dollar salaries that other team would love to unload. Mo is going to have to do some lucid thinking, to sort through the many bewildering possibilities.

Pujols maybe out for the year with foot problems? Sounds about right. I continue to be glad that the team stuck with Allen Craig.

Right now trading Carlos Beltran wouldn`t bother me.He is still homerless in July and why not get something for someone who is probably not returning.David Freese reminds me of Ken Reitz.Good Glove,Slow runner with pop sometimes. Some teams are looking for a bat (Texas, Yankees etc) Come on Mo see what`s cooking out there.Team needs some fine tuning.Adams needs to be playing more and Craig can play RF.

July 8th, 1997. I actually have no idea (and it appears neither does anyone else) but I figure if I guess and no one else does that will make me the closest guess and thus the winner 🙂

I applaud your creativity, but closest to the pin does not apply here. I guess I should offer a clue, not that it will help you, since you burned your attempt… 😉

Here is the clue. In the game in question, Albert Pujols and Jim Edmonds hit home runs.

Even after this disgraceful batting exhibition in Atlanta the Cards still are 13-8 this month.Still think the Cards need some tuning.See who is interested in Beltran and Kenny Reitz the second.

    August 10, 2004. Cardinals 2 Marlins 1
