Brian Walton's news and commentary on the St. Louis Cardinals (TM) and their minor league system

Cardinal Talk: KXnO FOX Sports Radio: Rocking and rolling

Weekly St. Louis Cardinals-focused chat on KXnO FOX Sports Radio 1460 in Des Moines.

Late Friday afternoon, I joined Ken Miller on KXnO FOX Sports Radio 1460 in Des Moines in our regular series to discuss the St. Louis Cardinals, “Cardinal Talk.” This time, we discussed the Cardinals winning ways in a historical context, previewed the Milwaukee series and the upcoming West Coast roadtrip.

Cardinals followers in central Iowa can again catch St. Louis Cardinals radio broadcasts on KXnO as well as my regular segment each week throughout the season, either over the air or via streaming. Or, if you miss it live, you can always catch the replay right here at The Cardinal Nation blog.

It appears Jaime Garcia has lost some of his Busch stadium mojo.Pitching worse at home than on the road.Usually JG has been better at home than on the road.Maybe just a hiccup .

    • JumboShrimp says:

Garcia is a finesse artist. Aramis Ramirez has seen it all and likes to mash lefties. Next time, walk Ramirez four times.

The good news is Freese finally did something useful with a bat. If we can get Freese going, this team will be better.

  2. BKKCard says:

In such a Freese event, and yesterday’s event portended a talismanic hearkening of emotional proportions, this team will appear heavy to all comers. The brave ball hawker came from the left field side of the bleachers this time, but not a one among our crowd could disassociate from 2011.

  3. blingboy says:

Freese’s homer came in handy, but there is no sign that salami boy is puling out of his slump. His last three games he has one hit, one walk and five Ks. His BA is lower than it was 10 games ago.

He did better when he was less healthy, maybe somebody could kick him in the shin or something.

  4. Bw52 says:

Old Wiggy is hitting .429 RISP.

  5. crdswmn says:

Garcia going on DL. Will see Dr. Andrews. Shoulder.

    Bye bye Jaime.

  6. Bw52 says:

Boggs coming up.Hope he has his stuff together.

No need to worry about the Garcia situation. It is just part of the 5 year plan. The off shore accounts were getting low and this was a convenient time to refill them through a direct deposit from the insurance claim. Also, the team was doing too well and we wouldn’t want them to upset the 5 year plan like they did in 2011 by winning too much. Winning puts on too much pressure to raise salaries and spoils the fans.

    • crdswmn says:

      You left out the ………….

      • CariocaCardinal says:

Actually what I left out was Bud’s and Fox sport’s involvement in all this and how I can’t say anymore because, well you know, certain people read this and they might put pressure on Brian and I might even be in danger.

I wonder what the TV ratings are like in L.A. The dodgers are in last place and the Angels winning percentage is lower than everybody except Houston and Miami.

Today Tyler Greene got a hit for the Chisox vs the Angels. He is hitting .250. Albert went 2 for 5, so he’s at .247. He’ll probably catch up to Greene at some point. I’m not sure if Hamilton will or not.

preemptive punk mouth by the Brazilian………………if I explained the insurance issues with anymore details………..Brian would lose his access……..amongst a few other things……… Garcia is gone…… you won’t see him until this time next year maybe………..Westbrooke is in more trouble than is being let on………. the pitching surplus is gone………. and there are a few other surprises on the way…….that I don’t know anything about………….. no one reads this rag anymore………. If Brian publicly banned you from here……..I might consider publishing the “Colby Rasmus Story”………right here……….. Your a piece of work CRD ………. you should show some class ………. an interesting story might be the game 6 WS….TLR uses Lance Lynn……who gives up back to back and still pitches to 3 more hitters….. but the great move isn’t that Tony burned both Jackson and Lohse to get down a bunt in the 10th……….its that Dave Duncan and the other coaches did nothing to stop him…..especially after the game 5 fiasco……….. I may tell that one here………….doubt it…….. but I still have the A-bong……..might just have to set it off here after all…………

  8. JumboShrimp says:

Mo is going to have to promote Wacha to take over for Garcia. He has been pitching fantastic and with Garcia going down, its hard to avoid turning to Wacha. He has earned the shot.

We can demote Kelly to build up innings via the Memphis rotation. Kelly may be needed later. And they are talking about Chris Carpenter now as a starter, not an extra reliever.

Garcia did a good job getting this far. He is out of the 2013 picture from hereon.
