St. Louis Cardinals records through May 15

Through the first half of May, there is considerable excitement among St. Louis Cardinals fans because of the team’s fast start.

Manager Mike Matheny’s second club has won exactly two-thirds of its games, with 26 victories in 39 contests. The team has the exact same .667 winning percentage at home (12-6) and on the road (14-7). The Cards have won 12 of their last 14 and hold a 2 ½ game edge over the Cincinnati Reds in the National League Central Division.

With the invaluable assistance of researcher Tom Orf, here are the Cardinals records through May 15 since the start of the La Russa era in 1996. They are listed starting with the most recent.

    Usually when you do this kind of post the chart shows where they ended up finishing – is that a follow up post?

    For maintaining a strong record, some helpful factors:
    Freese escapes his slump;
    Boggs escapes his slump;
    Westbrook escapes the DL;
    And lots of folks stay healthy.

    “We did some more test and discovered some scar tissue that wasn’t previously known about.”

    Is Jake still going to be’ fine’?
