Cardinal Talk: KXnO FOX Sports Radio: Lohse returns

Weekly St. Louis Cardinals-focused chat on KXnO FOX Sports Radio 1460 in Des Moines.

Late Friday afternoon, I joined Ken Miller and Jim Brinson on KXnO FOX Sports Radio 1460 in Des Moines in our regular series to discuss the St. Louis Cardinals, “Cardinal Talk.” This time, we discussed the up and down and back up again week for the Cardinals and looked ahead to the Milwaukee series, specifically Kyle Lohse’s return to Busch Stadium as a Brewer.

Cardinals followers in central Iowa can again catch St. Louis Cardinals radio broadcasts on KXnO as well as my regular segment each week throughout the season, either over the air or via streaming. Or, if you miss it live, you can always catch the replay right here at The Cardinal Nation blog.

Fine start tonight by Kyle Lohse, but great start by Shelby Miller.

The Cards have a nice lineup when Freese has to hit as low as 7th and budding star Matt Adams cannot even get into the lineup.

Yes, Mr. Miller just silenced any thoughts about him not being ready at this point.

Agreed. Miller looked great. And at a fraction of what Lohse would have cost.

I was concerned after he hit Gomez (I think it was Gomez). Miller kind of had a worried look on his face, but it didn’t seem to bother him. I thought that was a good sign for a rookie.

It was Gonzalez who was hit. He had to leave the game. With the Brewers having so many injured players already, it would seem to be extra tough for them. It is a fine line for pitchers needing to establish inside with hitters leaning into the zone. Or it simply could have been a pitch that got away from Miller. But you are right, he kept on going afterward. It was an impressive outing.

Yeah, okay. Wainwright extension looking pretty good right now, too!
