On Friday afternoon, I joined Rob Rains as he and his son B.J. Rains co-host The Sports Zone Show on Sports Radio 1380 AM in St. Louis. Even if you are outside the St. Louis area, you can always catch the show’s live internet stream for free.
Our focus was on some of the emerging Cardinals minor leaguers including performances in spring training camp, as well as the outlook for 2013 across St. Louis’ system.
In addition to their weekday show from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M CDT, catch their writings at RobRains.com or stlsportspage.com.

Was surprised to hear you mention Curtis. Have you seen or heard something this Spring that now makes you think he might be more than an organizational player?
I suspect you might be fishing for a compliment, since you were the one to convince me I was not giving Curtis his just due.
My interpretation of the question was to id some guys off the radar who might surprise. I took that to mean close to the majors, so I went with Garcia, Perez and Curtis, in that order.
P.S. Most all of the pitchers I could think of quickly are already on the 40-man and/or are pretty well known.
Nope, just curious if something had changed and why. i try not to play “gotcha” – more often than not I end up on the wrong end of the game.
Just kidding you, but you may be right about Curtis. If he is starting in Triple-A and continues to hit, you never know…
