In what has to be considered tremendous news for St. Louis Cardinals fans nationwide, FOX Sports Midwest announced Wednesday plans to televise 10 of the club’s 2013 spring training contests from Florida.
That total is up from five in each of the past four springs. Including all other television sources announced to date, 14 Cardinals spring training games will be viewable, up from eight in 2012. Full 2013 details here.
Highlights of the FOX Midwest schedule include five of six games from March 14-18 (excluding March 16), all from Jupiter. Opponents will be the Atlanta Braves, Washington Nationals, Miami Marlins (twice) and New York Mets. The first two clubs were playoff participants in 2012.
The second block of five FSM telecasts include the Marlins (twice), Mets and Nats again, along with the Minnesota Twins. Those games will be held on March 23-25 and 27-28.
FOX Sports Midwest will also air a 30-minute Spring Training Report special that premieres Monday, Feb. 25 at 9 p.m., and a 2013 Season Preview on Saturday, March 23 at 11:30 a.m.
The overall total of 14 televised games does not include the schedules of the Cards’ nearest and most frequent opponents, the Miami Marlins and New York Mets. Neither of those clubs has yet announced spring broadcast plans, but when available, we will share them here at The Cardinal Nation blog.
Full Cardinals 2013 spring training radio and television schedule details here. At this point, only six of the team’s 32 spring games will not have some radio or TV coverage and just two after March 6.

I hope a few of the earlier games get picked up. It is going to be an interesting ST.
Brian, do know your ST plans yet?
Yes, I always set my plans early. I usually come when the minor league games begin. This year, I will be arriving on the 12th.
I’m not going this year. Can’t afford it.
Sorry I won’t see you again… I am planning to get to Springfield this summer, though…
I am sure I will go to some Springfield games too.
I enjoyed the article on the main site detailing all the ex-Cards org people and players now with the Luhnows in Houston.
Their payroll for 2013 is around $10M plus all the minimum wage guys. Opening day payroll will likely be around $20M. Commitments for 2014 is $5M. He’s really starting from scratch.
Thanks.
Jeff L. is getting paid to do in Houston………..what he was getting paid to set up in St. Louis……… the WS pushed his tactic out………….. they are doing it now with ease…….. the highest profit line this year is 3rd place with tears………. they are on course………. Garcia is next……….
“to do”? With a $20 million dollar payroll? If you say so.
You think MLB is going to let them slide, spending 30 million without an understanding? They will be going for draft picks. He is going to put in the exact plan that he was using here. BD is lowering himself down to it. Its foundations were created on models by the A’s and the Ray’s. He will be at 75 million in three years. No Free Agents in that mix.
Ah, the mysterious “understanding” that only Westie is privy to. Agree they will probably be near $75 million in 3 years but they cant get there without FA’s.
I thought he meant DeWallet will be at 75M in 3 years.
Catching salary bails…………… for a start ……………. that will start at the break.
