St. Louis Cardinals weekly chat on KXnO FOX Sports Radio 1460 in Des Moines.
Late Thursday afternoon, I joined Ken Miller and Jim Brinson on KXnO FOX Sports Radio 1460 in Des Moines in another installment of this year’s series to discuss the St. Louis Cardinals, “Cardinal Talk.” Our focus was the first week of the season and Friday’s home opener (the reason we went a day early this time).
Cardinals followers in central Iowa can again catch Cardinals radio broadcasts on KXnO as well as my segment each Friday afternoon throughout the season, either over the air or via streaming. My appearances are sponsored by WCI Pools and Spas,

Checked in with our dearly departed.
Brendan: .200, 0 RBI, 4R.
Colby: .095, 2RBI, 2R
Schmalbert: .217, 2 RBI, 2R (Angels are in last place, 2.5 games out. kkkk)
Joe Mather is getting a few ABs for the Cubs.
Brett Wallace is in the minors.
Brian Tallet has a 21.60 ERA in AAA.
Its early. But Tallet is in mid-season form already.
Brett Wallace is in the minors, because he needs to improve, he got rushed up to the majors and was not ready.
You have to admire the stubbornness of guys like Tallet.
LaHair has accumulated 2,400 at bats, at the AAA level. Brings to mind Ryan Ludwick. People who think he is a AAA guy may be in for a surprise. Epstein thinks if a guy can dominate at AAA, he can play in the majors. So do I and so does Wainwright. LaHair is a big guy who punished the PCL last season. And a lot cheaper than Albert, Votto, and Fielder.
This year, we have Romero instead of Tallet. Romero got released 3 times last summer. We shall see how he does during 2012.
We have a pool of lefties at AAA and AA: Greenwood, Swindle, Browning, Additon, Gast, Lyons, Freeman. It will be interesting to see if any of these guys get the call this summer.
