There are sleazy owner all over MLB. The McCourt’s are Southern California sleaze. For those “heavy weights” the follow some of the “practiced dialog” around these parts, there is a “celestial” event brewing, around the conjecture that the Commissioner indeed has, and is capable, of long range planning……………………….. The tell……………

McC’s have taken the Dodgers in to bankruptcy court in Delaware. If you don’t know why that is, you probably shouldn’t bother reading any further. The purpose is to influence a judge, in hopes of overruling Bud’s veto of the Fox Sports bailout in a long term deal, that would simple render any other foreseeable activities of the court meaningless (almost) …………….. the tell……… at the point of this motion, the Judge must ascertain whether the Fox offer is still “viable”……………………………..
the point here is simple……….. did Fox make that offer in league with Buddy, in full knowledge of his impending veto? ( suggesting more of an advertising ploy to attract the right “future” owners)
Or…………….would Fox now enter into a deal knowing that the value of saving that Franchise momentarily, would certainly plummet the commercial value of the franchise even farther as the McC’s continue its plunder …………

This little “legal” test is going to help illuminate the relationship of Fox and it role in MLB. Was there offer in fact just bait to further “herd” the McC’s down this pathway, into a legal trap? A simple gesture by Fox at this point…….decides the proceedings……or “tests” and likely seriously undermines Selig’s powers……..Its something to watch………..If Selig and Fox could run a play like that………. are they doing even more interesting long range planning???????????????????????

Listened today Brian and might I say I thought you threw a plethora of information out there. Very informative and I feel caught up on the Cardinals system after listening to you today. Good stuff.

    • Brian Walton says:

Thanks, RC. I try to jam as much as I can in the time allotted…. ;-) I will also post the audio up later for The Cardinal Nation subscribers.

Sorry I missed you in StL, but hope you’ll soon have a chance to try out your new bow. Also, it was great that you hosted crdswmn.

      • RCWarrior says:

Thanks Brian, The new Diamond Bow was my fathers day present from Colby/Cyle. I actually went out the first day I had it and took over 200 shots……and I’m still recovering from the soreness. :)

Maybe we can get the group from the Cardinal Nation blog the next time I come through St. Louis. How fun would that be to put faces with all of the names and personalities?

I hope Cardswmn had a good time. The weather was bad and so were the cardinals but hopefully she has some memories that were good about seeing some of the players up close and seeing the families of the players interact with one another. Seeing things from a different viewpoint is never a bad thing for people.

Funny thing about Crdswmn……she seems to be a really shy young lady and I’m sure BW would be shocked to hear that. ;) But I did enjoy meeting her and her brother as both seemed to be really good folks.

        • WestCoastbirdWatcher says:

Be sure and take film of your Brown Bear safari……….with bow………only……….. no cheap “large caliber” insurance………. we’ll put it on you-tube…….and of course all subsequent ceremonies that will no doubt be related…………

        • crdswmn says:

Not exactly shy RC, but maybe a little out of my element under the circumstances. :)

I appreciate the “young” comment, since I am pretty sure I am older than you. ;)

I had a terrific time, thank you, and so did my brother.

        • blingboy says:

RC, maybe you and your bow could go on up to Alaska and get on SP’s reality show. Hunt walruses or some such. :)

I sure am sorry I couldn’t take you up on your offer this time, just too much on my plate. Would have been a once in a lifetime experience. I’ve very happy for crdswmn.

    • crdswmn says:

I listened as well. I have learned so much about the minor leagues since I joined this group. Good job Brian.

It seems Hamilton will be here for a while. Perhaps an opportunity for Adams to advance.

    • Nutlaw says:

Yeah, is he the team’s fourth outfielder right now? Maybe at best the fifth if Berkman would move off of 1B in favor of him? Well, maybe the sixth if Skip can be shifted, too. Still, with no Craig, Brown, or Greene, it’s a scary situation.

      • blingboy says:

I expect Skip to see less time at 2nd with Punto and Descalso now vying for playing time there. Both will likely see as much or more time than Kozma got. Probably more.

Skip probably will inherit some of the outfield reps Brown was getting.

Hamilton mostly a pinch hitter, relief for Lance at first, until Craig returns.

        • friendmouse says:

I’m admittedly prejudiced towards Schumaker…I just like the guy! With that said, I honestly cannot see why most discount him as a second baseman. He’s made zero errors this year, and I think his range is at least average. He’s making good, accurate throws to 1st base, and he turns the DP as well as anybody, in my opinion. Offensively, his BA has been steadily moving upwards the past couple of weeks, and he battles with the best of them. I say play him as much as possible.

          • Kansasbirdman says:

I like him too. Maybe its because we are similar height and his name is Skip and mine is Kip

          • blingboy says:

I should clarify that I don’t think Skip has played himself out of any playing time. It’s more that we have better extras now so I think they will get more time than Kozma and Brown.

I have been critical of Skip, but he has looked pretty good since coming back.

            • WestCoastbirdWatcher says:

Compared too????????????????????????? and that is exactly the issue……….. he is improved in all aspects of HIS game…………..he does not hold down a position anywhere else in the league………. nice kid….. its the truth and you know it BB……….. if Punto doesn’t go down……….Skip never earns these AB’s….. he is part of a loosing chemistry……….. and he seems self satisfied that he isn’t the low man on the totem pole…………….. that attitude has taken over the team……………

What kind of Diamond bow do you shoot RC? You use a release and peep? I started off with a PSE and two years ago picked up a Hoyt Alpha max (32) as I go about 5’7. I baggged my bigggest deer Nov 09 – was a 260 lb buck gross scored 155 but was prob 8 yrs old as he didn’t have much left of his choppers. I spent a whole afternoon with my slicer and the next week dehydrating and ended up with 7 gallon bags of jerky (my rule is eat what you harvest). I have been spending several weekends a year down in TX on a lease where they are overrun with wild hogs (I don’t hunt fenced places) and hope to get one with a bow next time. With our son being born I didn’t think I was gonna go this year but my brother got engaged and we are gonna go down in august for his bachelor party as we are too old now to want to do the ‘typical’ bachelor party stuff (actually that stuff hasn’t appealed to me since I was 18). The hogs stink to high heaven but when you cook them they taste just like the store bought stuff.

Wow……………..the cash is running toward Lohse giving up Hr’s and Cards not being able to hit lefties….

Punto and Freese start today. Will Tony inject Freese into the 2(hole), or try to back Berkman as the 5th?
Tony is trying to keep the 3rd spot (empty) even though it is killing MH………. Berkman is dying as a result, starting to chase the losing streak well outside the strike zone…………… Tony lost Brown which puts Jay and Colby in against a pitcher who won’t contribute to their prosperity………….

    the weak lineup
    Theriot
    Jay
    MH
    LB
    DF
    CR
    YM
    KL
    NP
is likely what you’ll see……………..the smart line up is this……..

    RT
    DF
    LB
    MH
    CR
    JJ
    YM
    NP
    KL

I spank Theriot publicly……and tell him to keep the ball out of the air…you do not have surprising power………………. Keep Freese on a short leash….staying back and only turning on off speed…….. no power from you today LB….just gappers………… Matt…talk about choke…..if you’re going down for balls, bend you knees a bit…and maybe they will stop picking on you……… Colby..????? plan to take singles from this guy until he shows you vulnerability………….sober up………..Jay…….come set and quite before he releases the ball……..or you’re going to SD…….or Memphis…….. Molina, stop acting like you’re good……instead, be good…………. Nick……just try to complicate things….be the Pro that this team doesn’t seem to have right now……………… Lohse………being Dave’s poster boy is not an end unto itself………….. go back to engaging hitters….start using the change like an AH not a tactician…………… they made you the good boy, and now thats all you are……… remember, when you’re just standing there staring in…Focusing……..they’re doing the same thing right back……and that is never good………work fast…..have an attitude……… get a little p-ssed off….. before they give you a reason……………………

KansasBM my bow is a diamond fugitive. I do have a release and peep. I shot a hoyt at cabellas and I liked it more than the bow that I ended up with but it was the top of the line hoyt and was $1500.00. My sons offered to get me the more expensive one but I stayed with the cheaper Diamond even though when all was said and done it costs us over $1000 for everything I got with it.

This is my first bow and I have been shocked at how much I have enjoyed shooting it. Its probably one of the few gifts I have received that I have actually used. I’m hard to buy for because if I want something I go get it so you have a hard time buying me something that I want. But they achieved success this time as I do love the bow.

Tim Hudson has a big lodge right outside of town and a few months back he and I spoke about us doing some hunting down at his place this winter. I believe he has around 1000 acres so it should be fun. Yea I’m excited about doing some hunting with the bow as I feel this will be more like hunting instead of shooting fish in a barrel which is what gun hunting seems like to me.

    • Kansasbirdman says:

Its a lot more effort, but also more rewarding. I think it makes you have to think like the game you are pursuing because you have to get close. The Hoyt I have is not top of the line and all modern bows are pretty good (and pricey) a range finder is helpful to mark landmarks around your stand so you know which distance the deer is without hav ing to try to figure it out as it approaches. Also practicing shooting from an elevated position helps bc the arrow path is a little different. With bowhunting you sit long hours but the payoff is that much sweeter. If you wanna try hogs let me know they are also a worthy/rewarding pursuit and to the ppl on the lease they are a nuisance
