The Double-A Springfield Cardinals will begin a six-game homestand at Hammons Field on Wednesday evening with the Corpus Christi Hooks first up at 7:07 P.M.
In an acknowledgment of the tremendous devastation suffered in Joplin after the Sunday tornado, the Cardinals will be accepting donations for Convoy of Hope every day of the homestand to assist the families affected by the disaster.
Above taking donations for the victims of the Joplin tornado, the Springfield Cardinals and their St. Louis parent are jointly making a $25,000 donation to the Convoy of Hope. A formal check presentation will take place prior to Friday night’s game.
Convoy of Hope, a Missouri-based disaster relief agency that has a World Distribution Center in Springfield, was one of the first agencies to provide emergency assistance to the people of Joplin.
Those unable to contribute at the park can make a secure online donation to Convoy of Hope at www.convoyofhope.org or make a $10 text donation by texting the word CONVOY to 50555. Standard message and data rates apply.

I didn’t see Tuesday’s lineup posted , so here it is:
Theriot 6, Jay 8, Pujols 3, Berkman 7, Craig 9, Schumaker 4, Cruz 2, Descalso 5, McClellan 1.
No Colby while Tony Cruz makes his debut.
One of these days we may see Jay 8, Colby 9. It would elicit some comment I imagine.
Thanks for posting it. Somebody wake up the beat guy.
Colby had a terrible game at the plate yesterday……….. He seems confused….bat head pointing at the first base coaching box………..that is a big mistake, and why should be obvious. It doesn’t even have a chance of squaring before the front of the plate……….He is just being used by pitchers because the only swing plane that that can happen on is a pitch down…………..and its obvious. Look at how they working the top of the zone…………….. his only defense has been to just watch and hope they are missing and the ump likes him………… that stopped yesterday………. Sad part is that he had a good adjustment going on……….now he has cut its influence in half, made his bat angle more dramatic to restore his illusion of stored power……….no mans land………. just a wild guess, he’s trying to discover the long ball with a profit motive……….. to be honest…..it probably has allot more to do with his self image….he like the feeling of being a power threat……………..AP is our chief addict in that field.
RC, there is no one way to hit. Bonds always looked the same, but made many adjustments as he loaded………………. Colby is pressing up and back….a little……..its not enough..or nearly what he was doing in April……he needs to be able to drop his hands a good 4 inch to cancel out some of the holes he has now……..He couldn’t possibly with his bat angle that acute…………look at where he started the year…and where he stalled…………Hr’s happen to bad pitches……… and those are always negotiated………good hitters can make a good pitch ugly. He can use both approaches on a hunch…… but both need to be performed with clarity of function………. the in between starts up this bull……Harrang was a perfect chump for Colby…..except that he will work the top of the zone…and somebody mentioned it…………
Yesterday it was pitchers were pitching around Colby because he was the dangerous one in the lineup, today pitchers are using him. Classic!
It appears that Cruz is having trouble with his gear………. I’d guess that he is a little upset at drawing the rookie receiver ……………
Thats Kyle possible being upset……….
Nice little swing by Cruz………… he dropped his hands way down………swung around his body…nice and level……….like someone outside the Cardinal system…………
That felt better……..Cruz wasn’t so fidgety……….
Jumbo…………..where are you at? BB is already snoring………are you sleeping?
I’ve been lurking.
Nice smallball in the first. Albert contributed by advancing the runner.
This is one of those games where a throw that didn’t need to be in the dirt…….and a ball that was a routine hop for AP…….might cost the game…………. Berkman doesn’t appear to be 100%….wrist maybe……… Harrang isn’t going inside so Pujols isn’t a factor………….. Skip is back and grinding…….where is it going to come from………….?????
I wonder if Wainy helped Kyle develop that curve. It looks sort of familiar.
He’s using it too much though.
He’s had the surgery……..good for 50,000 miles……………
AP can run when there little league glory at the end……………. awkward………
Harrang doesn’t even have to throw strikes…….. the Cardinals guess by the- count- video preparation is grinding to a halt……………….. This is ugly baseball to me…….if you just scale back your expectations, those breaking pitches he throws for strike………could be interpreted as “hanging”………. at least good for stroke singles………..
To me, passing up the Theriot squeeze chance to tie was foolish………. Tony needs to have a plan here….there BP is deadly on the top side………….. He has a bench tonight…….
Giving up Kmac at 75 pitches…………Hmmmmmmmmm……. he could have gotten the sac…….no bunt by Theriot again…….Tony is a chicken……………
I think Motts mutton chops have given him a persona………….. and the squinting………thats good too…………… I know I wouldn’t be digging in to deep ……more like a fox hole……….
Boggs demotion shook him up.
Better score before we run out of pitchers.
Let me know how it turns out.
Another text book swing by Cruz…………..Colby deals with a high fastball…..but has know leverage/power……..almost a distortion of hi swing…………
