While many St. Louis Cardinals fans were disappointed that Monday’s spring opener was not available on radio or television, it was one of just four of the team’s 33 spring games not scheduled to be accessible somehow.
Not all broadcasts will have familiar announcers, but after all, isn’t it better to listen to or watch the opposing team’s crew than to miss the game entirely?
The 2011 spring radio and television schedule opens with the Cardinals-Marlins on Tuesday, March 1. The radio broadcast will originate via St. Louis’ flagship KMOX and will also be picked by XM satellite radio.
Further, all radio games should be available as part of the MLB Gameday audio subscription service. (Note that MLB rules prohibit local stations from live streaming games. For example, though KMOX offers audio streaming through their website, the games will not be available in that manner.)
In the schedule below, some radio games will be broadcast on both the Cardinals network and by the opposition club’s station. I listed KMOX if available and if not, the other team’s station is noted as it should be available via Gameday and perhaps also XM. XM releases their subset of games covered on a weekly basis throughout the month, so I will be updating that part of the schedule as announced.
In terms of television, all networks covering ten Cardinals spring games to be shown are listed. The first TV game is this Thursday, carried live on SportsNet New York and that evening on a delayed basis by MLB Network (as part of their 83-game MLB spring schedule). Among the other ways the following nine games can be viewed is via the internet through the MLB.TV subscription service (offering 150+ spring games across baseball with no spring blackouts).
Keep this page bookmarked as I will be updating it throughout the month as appropriate.
March 3 update: FOX Sports Tennessee announced they will be carrying the same five games as FOX Midwest. The table below is updated to reflect this. More details here.
March 4 update: XM games through March 11 added.
March 12 update: XM games through March 20 added.

I am subbing today so I can’t listen to the audio. The gameday has been working very poorly so far.
If you subscribe to Gameday audio (either directly for $19.95 for the season or as part of MLB.TV), you can listen to the archived KMOX call of the game this evening (or later on).
I know. I watched the gameday until my phone battery died. The gameday is very very slow to update.
“Find something else to talk about,” said La Russa. “You guys are creative, smart. That’s the easy way out.
Out from where???……………..a clever observer might ask…………..
Joe Strauss reporting that RCW is among those at today’s game.
Trying to get autographs from TLR and Albert, no doubt…
I might have to look into this teaching gig. #notspringbreakyet
Maybe RC will let us know what Colby’s new approach looked like.
Let us hope that its legs………. rest won’t kill……..
Carp left the game in the 3rd with the trainer. Strauss reporting they were looking at his hamstring.
strained hammy…………thats good……he can pitch…….that will give him 10 days rest…..they work too hard in spring training…………..practice all morning and then play a game……some guys don’t need all that.
Boggs left also with lower back strain. If I recall correctly players leave games all the time in ST for all sorts of things. Hydration could be the cause of these, maybe, maybe not.
On a positive note: 2 run HR’s are on the menu so far. Allen Craig, Matt Holliday and now Jon Jay have enjoyed the 2 course meal
Brian, do you have anything on Kevin Thomas? All I have is word of mouth from a friend who says he’s impressed people this spring.
Very good sinker. Other pitches developing. Here’s the link to his player page.
Carp gets credited with the win with 2.2 innings pitched?
new ST rules as of last year I think……….
Right. I guess nobody goes 5 yet. Just caught my eye as soon as I saw the box score.

Basically, the whole (ligament) was mangled.” (an AW observation…the only look you’ll get)…
Paletta, head of the Cardinals’ medical team, performed the surgery after having consulted with Yocum, who is based in Los Angeles.
This is basically misinformation in its usage…….. Y would be the “employee” of a particular InS carrier………
Adam’s statement reassures me that he will be ready by 6/12…….. his statement had many “purposes”…………
Cardinals crush the opposition today. Better get used to it folks.
We have a Powerhouse team!
I advise caution, Oink. We haven’t mastered the 3 run homer yet.
Ya think……………………. a windy spring training game…….. cut out the double plays and we’re looking at something………….. no AP was pleasant……Holiday immediately responds …….
How about that Tony……….. stealing bases……hit and runs with Jay and two strikes…… Carpenter will be ready to pitch when his time comes…… a fierce competitor. His absents for a cycle will help I feel. Let these kids make a statement…………… I for one don’t want to see KMac as a starter………. we need him doing the job he was hired for…and a little more would be good. Let one of these kids step up………. we need another Garcia story.
