I won’t be mentioning this every day, but the 2/15 set of articles and video links are now posted at the message board thread, linked to above.

  2. WestCoastbirdWatcher says:

Thanks for that Brian……………… I thought that Mo’s mention/clarification of the “term sheet” that needs be present in a formal offer, was a bit forced……….. If there is a leak this evening, its going to evolve that I’d guess……… Mo implied over and over that the Cardinals were trying all the “wrenches” in there bag to fit AP’s needs………… that was fake. I’m curious as to what the leaked number may be? I believe they can safely suggest 205 at this point and still count on being rejected………… 7/210 is pushing it………… if Lozano is there, and AP not……….that means all the Cards are face up at this point…….. Will Lozano be invited to the BD press conference…..or does he bust in?

    • WestCoastbirdWatcher says:

“For La Russa to interject himself wasn’t just irresponsible. It was unnecessary.”

Tony has been the go between here….. his statements were predictable. He’s like a trainer taking a kick at the fighter when they roll by……….. this is all a show…………..

For those struggling with this………..ask yourself……. what are the forces that created this circus ………because it is just that……….. a show…………don’t believe what your hearing………all the actions of both sides played to an end both knew was coming……..and it is far from over yet…for 162 times its going to be talked about.

RCW-figured you would like it.I see typical BS from the union.Standard issue BS reply from union.Of courde what did you really expect union mouthpiece to say.And i guess you think management is the only ones indulging in doublespeak and BS.Tunnelvision RC?

  3. Brian Walton says:

Heyman tweets that Pujols asked for a piece of the team, but was turned down. Cards offer was 8 years for “south” of $30 million, but exact numbers are not yet known, he says.

    • RCWarrior says:

Slam bam thank you ma’am the team sees LaRussa’s deflection and then raises………… :)

    • CariocaCardinal says:

Just proves that none of this (including this report) is reliable – first it was 6 years, then 7 years, now 8 years. Total crap by all of them – they’re just guessing.

Isn’t the ownership thing prohibited? Lozano knows that. Just more crap.

      • Brian Walton says:

Player ownership is allowed if approved by commissioner.

        • HBTexas says:

Brian — Isn’t there also a condition that if the player moves to another team, they must divest themselves of the ownership?

I though the Fay Vincent article in the WSJ said there was a prohibition on team ownership in the Basic Agreement?

          • Brian Walton says:

Correct. A player cannot have stake in one team and play for another. It started back with another Cardinal, Rogers Hornsby in the 1920s.

There is an MLB rule mentioned as a clause in the CBA that gives this permission to the commissioner. That is one reason Vincent has been pushing the concept – because it is possible.

            • WestCoastbirdWatcher says:

Lets see…………would his shares be the ones that that didn’t receive a divided? or maybe the ones that are only worth half there value because of the stadium debt? Cardinals revenue flow is at least as exotic as the Wilpon’s…………. All the talk you are hearing is Mo or his cronies playing reindeer on the roof………

    • HBTexas says:

Letters, e-mails, texts, messages left, etc. would not qualify as “conversations’. Remember, this is lawyer-talk and lawyers are know to speak with forked tongues and to play games with words.

If anyone thinks the union has no interest here, they aren’t thinking…

  4. WestCoastbirdWatcher says:

You guys kill me…………….the Union isn’t sentient???…….. everyone very high in this thing sees whats going on…………. the Union isn’t pressing, but Lozano is telling them everything they want to know……….in the end AP’s only chance of recouping is a collusion agreement……. which they will be spearheading……………….Whats he going to tell them,,,,,,,”hell Mel, they haven’t even made an offer yet”……..” look, I don’t know what the hell they’re doing”……….

  5. crdswmn says:

HB and BW you caught us. All of this is a conspiracy between RC, Westy and me. We are the trilateral commission of Cardinal baseball. :) We have been cooking this whole thing up for months right under everyone’s nose. :) We are now seeing out plan coming to fruition. He he heh.

  6. blingboy says:

The Cards are sure getting a lot of media exposure. I wonder what its worth.

I’ve heard from a few people who live in various states, big towns and small, and they are all getting their fill of Pujols contract coverage. I doubt there is a single po-dunc station anywhere that hasn’t had an Albert and the Cards segment or two. And Stan too. Nice one Bill.

As far as brand recognition, you couldn’t buy that kind of reach and saturation.

The Cards already have a bigger footprint than market size would dictate. It is getting bigger. I have to admit BDW is doing a heck of a job building value for the shareholders. That’s his job after all.

  7. crdswmn says:

I’m actually going to miss the big moment because I will be at my Aunt’s funeral at 11 am CST. I don’t think the church has WiFi and it would be sort of inappropriate anyway. I’ll have to see the rerun.

      On Dying

When we stand before this Creation, in our final act of selfishness, we need not fear our trespass, or wrongful passage.  At the end of our great life journey, it is only the remains of our ego that fears what is now dawning, the light of true understanding  illuminating our rightful passage. As our physical remains bow, immersed in this radiant light, the ego is unbound, revealing our true undivided self as it had always existed, having endured this long blind night of denial that haunts all worldly incarnations.

      Christian version

      On Dying

When I stand before my Lord, in my final act of selfishness, I need not fear my trespass, or wrongful passage.  At the end of my great life journey, it is only the remains of my ego that fears what is now dawning, the light of true understanding  illuminating my rightful passage. As my physical remains bow, immersed in this radiant light, my ego is unbound, revealing my true undivided self as it had always existed, having endured this long blind night of denial that has haunted my worldly incarnation. You are more beautiful Lord than I could ever have imagined.

I hope it wasn’t a difficult transition CRD. Have a peaceful day.
