    Day #7

    Its tempting.

  2. Bw52 says:

Maybe Colby and family can get together in front of the TV and throw darts and wish poor little picked on 175 lb slap hitting Colby was a Atlanta Brave. All those big mean Cardinal players picking on the little Bamaboy.

    • crdswmn says:

No doubt you will be prepared to skewer those who are mean to TLR. Will you throw the dip at the TV screen?

    • RCWarrior says:

I’d actually prefer he be a Cub or a Red BW…..better hitters parks. I’m not an Atlanta fan BW. I have quite a few Atlanta players that I know from coaching against but I’m not biting at the bit for Colby to play in Atlanta. Thats a big park.

I actually wouldn’t waste my time watching that mess. Just watching that miserable face and his players who look as miserable as he does for 162 games is quite enough thank you very much. Its like watching a funeral procession. No BW, I’ll be at a local steak house with my honey celebratind our 25th anniversay pounding a 18 filet with a glass of sweet tea sitting next to a hot mama. ;)

  3. Bw52 says:

Crdswmn-the Rasmus clan will probably throw darts and boo the screen every time DarthTony is on the screen.Throwing tire tools, switchblades, spittoons and ballcaps at the TV.

BW, are you trying to develop a sense of humor? Man keep trying cause you may almost seem like a rational human if you found a way to loosen up and laugh a little.

As for us country bumpkin Rasmuses, it may surprise you to know that I haven’t spoken TLR’s name nor have I heard it spoken one time this winter at my house. He is so boring as to be really unworthy of being talked about to tell you the truth.

And you have it so backwards as far as likes and dislikes. I like Tony. The freaking guy is fast approaching 2nd place in all time managerial wins. He is a managerial stud.

I’m not a huge fan of his platooning Colby against LH pitching and that is the one thing that I personally have a beef with him about but he is the manager and he makes the big money to make those decisions……its his team. Colby has always hit LH pitching pretty well ans platooning him killed him against them in 2009, playing him more in 2010 allowed Colby to be a little more successful but I said it 3 years ago that TLR would platoon Colby and it would delay his development against LH pitching. ding ding ding…I was right.

As far as your picking comments. I have never once said that I have heard of anyone picking on poor old Colby. Quite the opposite, Colby is a shy kid and probably has come across to many as being an arrogant sob prick, although he is the farthest thing from that. But thats life. It matters not imo, Colby has to put up numbers and I could care less personally if anyone likes him or not as it is irrelevant.

I believe that ML baseball is akin to golf at the ryder cup……Its a team sport but you do your job individually and thats all you can do. Albert is the best at doing that and I hope Colby gets to the point where he does his thing, puts up numbers and if the team wins good, and if it doesn’t, well…..good. All you can do is what you can do.

Platoon with who…………………. Tony has to protect his pitchers early on this year……….. he will be carrying a full stable of relievers…………………… this will be one of the first Springs where there will be a real competition…………. if Craig isn’t dominate, and Greene too for that matter, they will land in Memphis. He will be moving Punto around allot……………

        • RCWarrior says:

Hopefully TLR won’t feel the need to platoon him against LH pitching in 2011 but it has happened these first two years. Maybe it won’t happen as much this year but there is no doubt that he will be double switched out of 20 or so games.

We country folk have updated our style BW. Here you go. Enjoy. ;)

Don`t know if anybody saw that Braden Looper signed a minor league deal with the Cubbies.Trying to come back after sitting out last season.

  5. Bw52 says:

Miserable………………………….isn`t that what Colby is.being picked on by those mean Cardinal players.

    • RCWarrior says:

BW, I know you are trying to get me to bite so I will nibble a little just for funsies.

Growing up in a house with 3 brothers and having parents that forced you to deal with your personal issues because they would not respond to your whining forces one to learn to deal with situations that are less than comfortable. Every one of my kids deal with things differently. But 3 of the 4 are so quiet as to be appear almost aloof if you don’t know them. And their way of dealing with things that are tough is to keep to themselves or to fight, no middle ground. Now my 3rd son Cyle, who is at Elon right now, is a talker and a person who has never met a person he couldn’t have a 2 hour conversation with the first time he met them. But the rest of them are real quiet, introverts. Every one of them are yes sir no sir kids who I would put up against anybody as far as being good people but 3 of the 4 are not social butterflys. They all do the right thing 99% of the time.

Colby has dealt with a certain bit of isolation but its of his own making. His response to people who try to get on him is to not speak with them………ever. So if the way to treat young guys is to shun them for the first few years then after that let them play in your reindeer games, you will have already lost that one. Because he will never ever fool with anybody who treated him that way. Which is why you hear me mention the trade stuff. Colby probably would benefit from a new start because he will never warm to those who he feels treated him poorly, even though it is most likely just the way it has always been for young players.

He’s hard BW, you have no idea. There have been many a day where we would talk and his response to me when I would say that he is dealing with issues that every young guy has had to deal with would be this…….I’d like to have 5 minutes alone with this guy and kick his ass.

I will say this, If he ever gets to a point where he is looked to for leadership he will be excellent. He has always had that type of ability…..to care about his teammates. He was the best team guy I have ever coached. To make you understand that my view is not rose colored my son Cory is the exact opposite of a team guy. Cory would make Albert proud as he is just like him. We have lost high school games before whenh Cory played for me where after the game on the ride home Cory would say great game for me. I was 4-4 with 2 jacks. I would say, dude we lost. His response would be…..Not my fault the rest of the team sucks. :)

Bw52 — If you want to ‘get right’ with RC, you need to buy him a scarf like the one Mo’s been wearing… I can tell, by the way he keeps talking about it, that he truly admires and covets it! ;)

  6. WestCoastbirdWatcher says:

He’s going to grease the wheels on his waker RC…….and go down there and kick your azz….
    ………………time to back down………………

  7. Bw52 says:

RCW- I was off work today so i had time and the mood to fight evil and DarthRasmus and the Dark side.

  8. Bw52 says:

Everybody breathe a sigh of relief…………………….Mike McDougal signed with the Dodgers.

  9. crdswmn says:

T minus 90 minutes and counting to possibly my first TLR rant in a week. :)

    • crdswmn says:

      Ok, where are the jokes?

    • crdswmn says:

Thank God it’s over. One word—lame. That was no roast. His Royal Nastiness got a pass.

One interesting note about what TLR said about Steve Kline—”I didn’t want him, I don’t like him”. If anything should be engraved on TLR’s tombstone that should be it. It epitmomizes why TLR will never be a great manager in my eyes. In TLR’s world there is an “I” in team.

The only good thing–Waino’s remark about the “Albert Pujols Award”. If they did name an award after a player, it should be Waino.
