Kyle Lohse (0-1, 5.28) faces Philadelphia’s ace Roy Halladay (5-1, 1.47) as the Cards try to end the road series with a split.
Thursday’s first pitch is scheduled for 12:05 P.M. Central.

Lohse’s body language says it all…………….Worth was always the threat, not Howard. He will last 5.
LaRue does his job.
Two trips by Dave. He knows whats going on here. I’m curious to see whether they let Lohse get 10 run-ed.
Now the Cards are stuck without a long man.
Oddly enough……the damage being done is to the AP and MH. Lohse is already damaged. He will be fine. The other two…….not so good. Holiday should have been thinking RF all along. He wants to take Haliday to LF………for money……..right.
On the Philly’s feed they showed a big spot on Matt H. hitting massive HR into the far places as he OOhed and Awwed the locals…………………. today they shut it down and took BP in the cages. A signal being forwarded about what is B-llsh-t and whats not? Undoubtedly. I see that as a positive.
In fact this loss came at a good time. It concerns and effects many players. I like Greene. He isn’t ready for the Big Leagues. Skip playing right field in a contested game shows that Ryan Howard is team player, hitting into the coverage and taking what we were giving. Tactical Blunder….Yes.
Roy Halliday is good. He is very hittable though……….. Shumaker came out today hitting his position with appropriate goals………..and look what he does. I rest my case on whats going on with him.
Colby is a no show???…………this team owns Holiday……..or should I say, he owns them. That isn’t going to go away. He needs some strong coaching at this point, instead of this Public Relations posturing. This team is headed for the playoffs. Whether they do anything with that remains to be seen. Lohse is used to eating it. He will bottom out and contribute a 500 record.
Pittsburgh is a dangerous place to go right now. They will score 4 0r 5 on Garcia. The question is, will we score 6.
Brian, check out the thread on Viva El Birdos starting this morning. This was in anticipation of today’s game. I’m going to break it down into its various components and analyze it this week.
I actually think its a textbook study in the effect of “sanctioned vulgarity” and its effect on the emotional re- activeness of its participants. Their anxiety in anticipation of the possible humiliation of the Cardinal Hero’s was so intense it almost overwhelmed some of them. They’re dialog became so fragmented that it approached the “speaking in tongues ” phenomena that is characteristic to most religions in some form. See if you agree. Check it out BB.
Some people have trouble with Tony’s way of tinkering with every part of the lineup except the part that is most disfunctional. They forget, TLR is a genius. Westy’s breakdown will expose the folly.
Unlikely BB. It doesn’t seem like ammo for my premise though.
The Mark M. comments about excessive video and the guessing that ensues might be a fascinating topic. One might wonder how much influence he has. More importantly, are there “camps” of different opinions or centers of an alternate approach in the club house. Brendan’s Albert impersonation is peculiar. Colby’s adjustment back to to late extension posture seems to have went uncontested. …………………..how important are the video guys, or the assistant hitting coach. Were they given allot of power when it wasn’t know whether MM would survive…………………………….Who was he complaining to……..that it got to Strauss instead of Tony?
hitting coaches have no power. The player can use them and their suggestions/ideas or not. All that matters in the end is whether the player produces or not. No one is going to get benched because they are hitting .400 but not listening to the hitting caoch and they are not going to play because they are hitting .180 but spend hours in the cage/video room with the hitting coach.
