Hamilton, however, played a part in Samuel’s undoing as he and catcher Bryan Anderson allowed a two-out pop to fall barely 30 feet from the plate for a two-run single. La Russa termed it "not an easy play."

Tony is trying to prevent damage to young players here. That was not a hard play. Bases loaded with two outs, ball up the line in fair territory. Hamilton didn't even show up till the sun was setting. That was his only coverage responsibility with the trapper on his hand to boot. He was watching the game, thinking about his 1000 batting average. You have to laugh at them. It is a big step to take charge on a big league field.

I was following Goolds running commentary and kept expecting him to mention the keg behind second base, jeesh.

Gotta be some catches there Nut. There must be some incentives involve or a nice hit if he makes the team. He waited this long, he should have held out awhile longer. Looks bad for us after today's showing for depth on call.

The Mets signed Kiko Calero to a minor league contract. That's disappointing. I would have applauded the Cardinals for signing him to a reasonable major league contract even, despite the injury concerns.
