Spring training television and radio plans for the 2010 St. Louis Cardinals.
Updated 2/13: Though I first posted this four weeks ago, on January 17, with tentative TV games, I am republishing it with today’s date, February 13. The reason is to bring it up front now that the Cardinals full spring broadcast schedule has been filled in on MLB.com, confirming the rest of the television games and adding the radio ones, too.
Again, what makes this list different is it includes both Cardinals AND their opponents’ spring training radio and television plans. After all, with satellite and internet services, catching an away broadcast is far better than missing out entirely!
New radio notes: KTRS 550 radio will break from their regular Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday-Sunday schedule to also broadcast a pair of Friday games, on March 12 and April 2. The latter game will be from Minneapolis. KTRS’ first game will be on Saturday, March 6, the first of 17. Check local listings as always, but generally the 116 stations across the Cardinals radio network will broadcast Saturday and Sunday spring training contests.
New television notes: FOX Sports Midwest will be carrying five spring games, three of them in conjunction with other FOX regional sports networks. Another FSM game will also appear simultaneously on ESPN. The two KSDK 5 games have now been confirmed per MLB.com.
Though it is not new news, remember the very first Cardinals spring game on Thursday, March 4 against the Mets will be televised on SportsNet New York. It will be the first of a dozen (now 13 as of February 19) St. Louis spring games televised by some network.
Bookmark this page as it will be updated when additional information is made available. It is also always accessible from the task bar at the top of the page via “Events/Info” > “Television and Radio”.

april 2nd vs twins in their new ballpark, “Target Field”.
Their new OUTDOOR ballpark!
I moved into my house in a Minneapolis suburb on April 1, 1985. The night before, a new one-day Twin Cities snowfall record was set – not just for that date, for ANY day, anytime – 14.7 inches.
That very long-lasting memory of how unpredictable their early April weather can be should help explain why I have decided not to travel there for the pair of exhibition games.
Domes are for sissies
Removable-roofed stadiums are for smart owners in the Northern locales.
Upset by the lack of stadium progress, Selig floated the idea of eliminating the Twins, a plan blocked in court before the 2002 season. But word leaked that a frustrated Pohlad had volunteered his team as a contraction candidate in return for a $150 million buyout from his fellow owners.
After a decade-long pursuit, the Twins got the go-ahead from the state in 2006 for a $522 million stadium paid for mostly by a county sales tax. The team’s contribution was about $130 million, and Target Field is set to open in April 2010.
It was a power play by Pohlad and Seleig. The tax players always assumed he would step up and add the roof……………..It will soon be demanded………the sissies.
Pohlad, who has since died and passed the team to his son, did not become famously wealthy by accident. He made his money in the banking business, more lucrative than Selig’s auto dealerships. Pohlad could easily have built a stadium himself, but apparently instead chose to try to take his money with him…
The were going to spread his ashes around the infield…………. but someone pointed out that the gold might stick to the players shoes.
Alternatively, he may have been a real man of hardy nordic stock who saw no need to pander to spritzer sipping panytwaists.
Any idea when MLB Network will announce what ST games *they* will be carrying? I hate to think I’ve got only two games (the ESPN ones) that I’ll be able to watch here in LV.
Jmo, I will see if I can find out, but I don’t think all the clubs have even announced their broadcast schedules yet. In the meantime, here is a thought. Have you considered MLB.TV to watch games over the internet? They say they will be showing 150 spring training games this year. I usually subscribe and use the heck out of it, home and on the road.
The problem up in Minnesota is they don’t understand the concept of stiffing bondholders.
NEW YORK (AP)
Citi Field’s bonds have been lowered to junk status by Standard & Poors and Moody’s Investors Service
Finally…Moody’s and S&P are realizing that not every investment vehicle is investment grade.
Most of the stadium bonds out there are solid. The Yankees avoided and still are repelling Congressional investigations……………………… Anyone scene a Busch Stadium bond lying around?
This is good to see. I like Marks dialog. I like his tempo and rhythm as a guide and mentor.

I do see a number of make or break scenario’s on the horizon though. Mark is a dead pull hitter. His realizations on body position are very sound, but the parameters in which they mesh with pitching and tactical realities for players hitting 1/2 6/7/8/P remain to be seen. Skip is trying to stay back, but when pitch speeds approach the 90′s with sliders and change ups mixed in, his front shoulder is likely to again be too far open. Love it when your swing triggers are primed to take the ball in front. That will get you to Colby’s 260 or Alberto’s “I want 50 in the worst way”, or Ludwicks absolutely mind crippling vagaries every time. His success will depend on tactical evaluation and situational swing adaptations. I hope he knows this, because I like him and hope he catches on.
FYI, tickets for the two Minneapolis exhibition games will go on sale via MLB.com only at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 23, say the Twins…
Note: 13th game now on the Cardinals spring television schedule as the 3/30 Mets game has been added to the SportsNet New York schedule. It has been added above.
I just read the Twins payroll is up to $96 million, something that I am pretty sure never happened when Carl Pohlad was alive.
Three MLB Network games added, though the last one is a tape delay…
The regular season television schedule has been announced with 160 of the 162 on FOX Sports Midwest, KSDK, FOX Network or ESPN.
Fourth MLB Network game added above, the April 2 contest from cold Minneapolis…
Man that Minnesota game is gonna be ridiculous. I’d be wanting to watch that one from the bench.
I was actually wondering the other day how much the cold weather could hurt the Twins batting numbers this year.
Yes, two games up there actually. The first one is late Friday afternoon, which will run into the evening. It may be dicey…
Should be quite a shock for the boys having just come from Jupiter the day prior…
Better bring smaller jocks to account for the shrinkage. Wouldn’t want the boys rattling around in there.

this is a nice interview……………………doubt the Cardinals use any of the their starters there. AAA bound hero’s. Contractually, I’m sure that Pujols and Holiday have to make brief appearance but I’m sure the Twin will be injury conscious too. You do realize that the chances those games are rained out has to be in the 50/50 range.
For those of you in the Memphis area and other areas South, FOX Sports Tennessee and SportSouth have announced their 2010 Cardinals schedule of four spring and 118 regular season games. I added the four SPSO spring games above (they are picking up the feeds of previously-announced FS telecasts).
Here is the link to the entire FS Tennessee and SportSouth schedule.
Full MLB.TV schedule of 10 more games ahead this spring now added.
Note the 3/22 split game reschedule with Boston will be on KTRS. The other game, the originally-scheduled one with Houston remains on television.
