Yeah, I was going to say that given that Pujols' MVP earned a #2 ranking and the Cy Young race earned #3 that each would be a reasonable top story for the coming season.

I think that it would be fair to say that a significant injury to Pujols, Holliday, Carpenter, or Wainwright would be a serious problem for the team. It seems rather clear that these will be the guys expected to carry the Cardinals in '10.

I dunno about health. If there are key injuries, then yes, I can see it. If everyone stays pretty healthy as in 2009 though, I don't think it will be a top story. Something else which is a by-product of good health and other factors will be - a three-peat for Albert or another Cy for Carp, etc...

Your criteria seem slightly different than mine and of course different perspectives also come into play. It makes for some interesting winter discussion.

I dont think LaRussa is a significant story because it is an old act. I dont think it will affect the team in 2010 so to me its a non story.

McGwire to me is almost a non story as well but I'll admit that may be personal bias. I dont think it will effect the team no matter how big or small of a story it becomes so while it may be a story I dont think it is that significant.

I think the Holiday/Pujols combo is a bigger story -- is the sum of the whole greater than the sum of the parts or vice versa.

Team health (particularly pitching) is a big story -- if we stay healthy we win, if we don't we may struggle. Tied some what to that is the #5/#6 starters. I think they will have more affect on how the team than how Freese produces.
