On Tuesday, the tentative rosters for the 18th Arizona Fall League (AFL) were released.

Eight members of the St. Louis Cardinals minor league system have been invited to participate. They include pitchers Lance Lynn, David Kopp, Adam Reifer and Mike Parisi. Catcher Bryan Anderson, infielder Daniel Descalso and outfielders Daryl Jones and Tyler Henley fill out the Cardinals’ tentative group.

I was surprised to see guys at such different levels, Kopp from Palm Beach with 2 years pro experience, interrupted by injury, and Parisi with MLB experience. Must be interesting.

  2. Brian Walton says:

With the demise of the Hawaii Winter League, each team can add two A-ballers this year. The Cards’ are Kopp and Reifer. They need to make a quick decision on Parisi as he was taken off the 40-man roster last winter so the AFL offers that chance. Remember that these rosters can and will change based on the health of these players over the next couple of months.

By the way, after the original post on Scout.com, I updated the article with eight player capsules and additional commentary.

I find the hoopla around the “Tipped pitches” interesting……… Tactically, it seems better to keep that a secret to delay the search for new ones. Does this have a tiny bit of Cardinal “magic” stirred in or what? I love this place.
