Wally Moon is on the list. As is Hector Luna (Spanish for moon). The must have hit some luna-shots.
It would be nice if scouts could someday unearth a Wally Luna or Hector Moon.

We’ve had five since 2000. This number is a complete outlier. Note: Four of these came on first pitches. Moral of the story: Don’t serve up meatballs to Cardinal rookies, even pitchers.

Wow, nice article. I thought the Lohse start after the 20 beating was his best outing. Cards hitters couldn’t have made a teaspoon full of testosterone amongst them, but he held the Phillies down and we won 3 / 2 I think.

Mark Worrell will forever be enshrined, however, as a Cardinal. He is the latest in a long line of Cardinals to hit a home run on his first at-bat. The Cardinals lead all teams in this category. Interestingly enough, there are a number of pitchers on there. Or maybe that’s not so interesting, as most pitchers probably get served fastballs when they first come up to bat.
